Chase Freedom Credit Card

I have written at length about the benefits of the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ink Bold/Plus credit cards. However, there is another great Chase card within the Ultimate Rewards family that I’ve held for over ten years now.

The Chase Freedom credit card is a card that you keep for the long term. There is no annual fee and Chase offers a bonus of 5X rewards when spending at certain categories each quarter of the year. For example, here are the bonus cateorgies for 2014:

Currently the sign up bonus for this card is 20,000 Ultimate Rewards which equates to $200 cash back. This bonus requires spending $500 on the card within the first 3 months of account opening. And when you spend strategically in the above categories, the Ultimate Rewards really pile up.

It’s important to note that you cannot transfer the Ultimate Rewards received from the Freedom card directly to airline or Hotel partners like you can with the Sapphire Preferred, Ink Bold, and Ink Plus cards. But you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards to a spouse or family member who has one of those cards who can then transfer them to the airline or hotel of your choice.

If you are interested in applying for this card, let me know and I’d be happy to send you an application link. Right now Chase is offering an incentive bonus to anyone who currently holds the card and refers it to some who applies and is approved. If this card sounds like a great addition to your wallet, I’d love to be able to refer you!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
